The following work presents the results of a dynamic characterization study performed at Aguablanca Bridge which is a composed structure by post-tensioned concrete I section beams. The bridge under study measurements
processing and analysis of ambient vibration signals in order to identify its dynamic properties (periods
natural frequencies and damping coefficients) were performed
this identification was performed using the non-parametric method Peak Picking (PP) and validated using the parametric method Stochastic subspace identification (SSI). After the dynamic characterization it was used the fundamental mode period to calibrate the numerical model; as calibration criteria mechanical properties of the materials of the elements of the bridge (concrete strength
prestressing steel area) were adjusted
using the results obtained from the characterization of materials made in a previous work. As a final result the bearing capacity of the bridge to ensure that the efforts and allowable deflection required by the recent Colombian Code of Bridges 2014 (CPC-14) is not exceeded
is determined. To develop the work it was used as a case study Aguablanca Bridge
consisting of four post-tensioned section I of 31 meters of light beams
simply supported
wide slab of 5 m and 4 rigid diaphragms contributing transverse rigidity to the structure.
