Acorde con las palabras de Robert L. Rabin (s.f.), la obra es una contribución sustancial al entendimiento del gobierno administrativo en los Estados Unidos en sus orígenes y actualidad. Este artículo presenta las ideas más importantes del trabajo de Mashaw analizando la evolución de la Administración desde los primeros días de la República americana. Con este fin, explora la configuración del gobierno americano antes y después de la guerra civil. En conclusión, el artículo desarrolla la exposición de Mashaw y explora las implicaciones de su obra en las disciplinas histórica y jurídica americanas.

As Robert L. Rabin demonstrates, the book is a substantial contribution to our understanding of administrative government in the United States during its origin and in the present day. This article presents the most important ideas of Mashaw’s work: it looks at the Administration’s evolution since the earliest days of the American republic. To address this challenge, it explores America’s government during the antebellum and after the Civil War.
