The book “Post-Tuberculosis Lung Disease (PTLD): Clinical, Functional and Social Perspectives”is an interdisciplinary academic work developed by the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Technological University of Pereira (UTP), within a research project funded by the Vice-Rectorate for Research, Innovation and Extension. Its main purpose is to address comprehensively the Post-Tuberculosis Lung Disease (PTLD)—an emerging condition that affects individuals who have been cured of tuberculosis but continue to experience persistent structural, functional, and symptomatic respiratory sequelae. The book integrates clinical, pathophysiological, epidemiological, social, and functional perspectives, organized into three major sections: 1. Clinical and Pathophysiological Perspectives: analyzes the pathophysiology of tuberculosis and PTLD, its interaction with HIV, critical care management in intensive care units, and mechanical ventilation strategies for patients with severe respiratory sequelae. 2. Social and Symbolic Dimensions: presents research findings on sociocultural factors, treatment adherence, and care trajectories among patients living with tuberculosis. Pulmonary Function and Quality of Life: includes studies on spirometry, six-minute walk tests, quality-of-life assessment using instruments such as the FACIT-TB scale, and evaluations of clinical and functional impact.
