Mediante revisión documental y visitas de campo se logra analizar el desarrollo en la zona rural de la localidad de Suba y replantear el concepto de sustentabilidad asociado a este. Se parte de un enfoque orientado al conocimiento epistemológico de la concepción de desarrollo entendida y adoptada por los actores participantes en los diferentes procesos sufridos en la zona estudiada y a partir de esto emitir conceptos que involucren la relación saber-conocimiento, sin atentar contra las costumbres de los pobladores de la zona, pero que permita encaminar los procesos y las actividades hacia un desarrollo sustentable que beneficie a la sociedad, al ambiente, y a la economía del lugar.Se entiende el desarrollo local sostenible entonces, como un proceso que involucra múltiples objetivos por parte de los actores participantes, y que para el caso del territorio rural de Suba, requiere especial atención e interdisciplinariedad, al contar con habitantes con características urbanas, rurales y flotantes, que sustentan sus dinámicas de vida sobre dicho territorio. A partir de esto, se resalta la importancia de impulsar iniciativas de desarrollo local mediante el fortalecimiento de los gobiernos locales y el diseño territorial de políticas de fomento productivo sostenible.This article seeks to present the current situation of the rural area of the town of Suba in terms of the potential, problems and dynamics of development that this area presents and that generate impacts on the natural environment and the scope of the sustainable development of the zone. Through documentary review and field visits, it is possible to analyze the development in the rural area of Suba and rethink the concept of sustainability associated with it. It is based on an approach oriented to epistemological knowledge of the conception of development understood and adopted by the actors participating in the different processes suffered in the studied area and from this issue concepts that involve the knowledge-knowledge relationship, without violating the customs of the inhabitants of the zone, but that allows to direct the processes and the activities towards a sustainable development that benefits the society, the environment, and the economy of the place.Local sustainable development is understood then, as a process that involves multiple objectives on the part of the participating actors, and that for the case of the Suba rural territory, requires special attention and interdisciplinarity, having inhabitants with urban, rural and floating characteristics, that sustain their life dynamics on said territory.
