Description
Summary:On Friday October 21, 2011, the President of the United States, Mr. Barack Obama, sanctioned the free trade agreements (FTA) with Colombia, Panama and South Korea. These agreements were ratified by Congress on 12 October, after almost five years of pending status. While some industries, such as, the flowers, vegetables and fruit see with good eyes the approval of the FTA, other traditional production sectors, such as, the dairy and rice have been concerned. This disiturbing fealing is cause by the fact that, to enter to compete fully with the export sectors will dump prices, because they are either subsidiesed or they are transferring prices. However, although the aspects mentioned above have received more advertising and is the piece, of this FTA, more easily kept in the minds of ordinary citizens to be used as a topics of discussion, the chapter on intellectual property is a highly sensitive one to the Colombian people. On this occasion, as it is a subject that has not had a massive outreach and that wil take, more or less, twelve (12) months in its implementation face, it is an issue that should be of public knowledge and real preparation in our society. Throughout the exertion, a brief description of what a FTA is, is given, to place the common citizen in the context, a frame in the globalized landscape of public health in Latin America and Colombia trying to put him/her on his own I and its problematic, in the sickness of a family member or a friend showing him/her how the indifference to public policies toward the government`s plans to the plans of the leader we choose freely by voting, will take us to our own misery, forcing us to act by complaining about our luck, and with total disregard of our attitude towards civil society and the issues of governance are the reason of our luck
