Indeed looking to improve the quality of life and access to opportunities for the inhabitants of local authorities, the national government through the DNP has unified basic tools for the development of municipal development plans, these being the main instrument of planning and management of local development. Considering the above these plans are of great importance for economic and social progress of municipalities, which will give a better use of public resources, provided from planning to implementation and evaluation is conducted responsibly, ensuring the effectiveness , efficiency and effectiveness thereof; the only way a true quality management and achieved concrete results.

En efecto en busca de mejorar la calidad de vida y acceso a oportunidades de los habitantes de las entidades territoriales, el gobierno nacional a través del DNP ha unificado herramientas base para la elaboración de los Planes de desarrollo municipales, siendo estos el principal instrumento de planificación y de gestión del desarrollo local.
