La actividad económica de la comercialización de armas de fuego tipo traumática en Colombia, se basaba principalmente en la importación, distribución y venta libre de este tipo de artículos considerados como juguetes, artefactos recreativos o deportivos, recibiendo beneficios arancelarios. La Fundación Ideas para la Paz (FIP), desde el año 2020 alertó sobre un “brutal incremento” en la comercialización de armas traumáticas en Colombia, reportando ocho mil quinientas (8.500) unidades importadas en el año 2009, pasando a ciento noventa mil (190.000) unidades en el año 2020, lo que favoreció al incremento de la oferta de este tipo de productos en el mercado interno.La similitud física de las armas traumáticas con las armas letales y la tergiversación de su uso y modificaciones de piezas para emplear munición letal, llevaron a convertir este tipo de artículos en instrumentos de intimidación y violencia. |

The Ideas for Peace Foundation (FIP), since 2020, has warned about a “brutal increase” in the commercialization of traumatic weapons in Colombia, reporting eight thousand five hundred (8,500) imported units in 2009, rising to one hundred and ninety thousand ( 190,000) units in 2020, which favored the increase in the supply of this type of products in the domestic market. The physical similarity of traumatic weapons with lethal weapons and the misrepresentation of their use and modifications of parts to use lethal ammunition led to these types of items being converted into instruments of intimidation and violence.1.
