description El objetivo central de este ensayo es analizar si las políticas enmarcadas en el proceso de modernización y transformación institucional de la policía nacional están respondiendo efectivamente a los nuevos desafíos en materia de seguridad y convivencia ciudadana, teniendo en cuenta el surgimiento de nuevos fenómenos criminales que están ejerciendo influencia en los sectores urbanos, de igual manera la llegada de actores criminales trasnacionales que están ocupando territorios fronterizos o en muchas ocasiones están formando alianzas con grupos armados organizados nacionales. Por lo cual es necesario estudiar la efectividad del servicio de policía para contrarrestar los fenómenos que influencian de manera negativa en el modelo de seguridad y convivencia ciudadana, teniendo en cuenta que el plan estratégico institucional y la política de seguridad implementada por el gobierno del presidente Ivan duque están enfocados a la reducción del delito, potenciando entre otras cosas las labores de la policía comunitaria, es esencial que se logre un trabajo conjunto entre los uniformados que se encuentran en las calles y la ciudadanía, la policía judicial y el área de inteligencia de la institución.

BibliografiaThe main objective of this essay is to analyze whether the policies framed in the process of modernization and institutional transformation of the national police are effectively responding to the new challenges in terms of security and citizen coexistence, taking into account the emergence of new criminal phenomena that are exerting influence in the urban sectors, in the same way the arrival of transnational criminal actors that are occupying border territories or on many occasions are forming alliances with national organized armed groups.
