description El presente ensayo describe la situación que se vive actualmente en la ciudad de Medellín desde los últimos 5 años, en cuanto a la influencia que han tenido las bandas y combos o también denominados grupos ilegales armados al margen de la ley, en la tranquilidad y seguridad de sus habitantes, y específicamente en las empresas de Vigilancia y Seguridad privada. Es una historia que ha hecho merecedora a la ciudad de Medellín del no deseable título de “ciudad más insegura y violenta de Colombia”, no sólo desde hace cinco años, sino desde hace varias décadas, donde se da inicio a una violencia más marcada y sentida, con muchos encuentros y desencuentros entre sus habitantes, impactándolos en los aspectos familiares, sociales y económicos, haciendo más énfasis en el modo en que operan estos grupos sobre los mismos habitantes y la manera como impiden que cada persona viva con dignidad y total libertad.
