| Summary: | This assay is base in describing the factors that led one of the most representative products of Colombia (the coffee) to lose place in the worldwide market. Let ́s start with a little story of the arrival of the product in Colombia and how it expanded across the country, given the possibility to the agriculturalists to integrate with a specific objective: establishing their product as a business and creating a lot of jobs. We determined the possible causes that have led the coffee sector to a crisis that caused several protests of the agriculturalists, where they exposed their complains with the sector. Also the mechanisms used by the government and the National Federation of Coffee on how to improve the production and the marketing for a competitive product. The principle objective is to show that over the year’s we ́ve been the greatest grain producers in the world, but at the same time that we ́ve lost in the globalized world. So we need to make new agreements that allow the Colombian coffee to be, as it is, the principal product of our economy. Key words: Export, revaluation, trade balance, output, value added, national federation of coffee (FNC), International Coffee Organization (ICO). |
