description En el presente ensayo a través de ejemplos históricos y definiciones de autores, se explica el concepto de megatendencias y como estas influyen en la sociedad hasta impactar en las organizaciones. Para las organizaciones se describen metodologías para incluir las megatendencias en los modelos de negocios. Adicionalmente, la industria es analizada a lo largo del tiempo y se explica como esta ha llegado hasta la etapa de una cuarta revolución industrial, termino también denominado industria 4.0; en el documento se presenta lo que es para la industria tradicional el cambio a una industria 4.0 mencionando ciertos objetivos y retos que caracterizan esta etapa.
