description El presente artículo de reflexión plantea una postura crítica y analítica de la inversión extranjera en el sector de la seguridad privada partiendo del análisis jurisprudencial, doctrinal y legislativo de la iniciativa presentada por el gobierno nacional ante el Congreso de la República que busca la reforma del actual estatuto de la vigilancia y la seguridad privada en Colombia, proyectando un nuevo concepto frente a la globalización del mercado de la seguridad privada permitiendo la participación de capitales extranjeros y la intervención de socios de nacionalidades diferentes a la colombiana, situación que ha generado división en los connacionales entre los que se oponen a la reforma aduciendo la inconveniencia de la participación de los extranjeros en la ejecución del deber del Estado en la prestación de servicios públicos por trasgredir directamente la soberanía del Estado y la afectación de la seguridad nacional, y los que defienden la globalización del sector de la seguridad privada mediante la adopción de tratados de libre comercio.
