Pese a que existe esta regulación y estas entidades, los profesionales contables no cumplen a cabalidad con la normatividad y se enfrenta a sanciones que son impuestas por la JCC. Luego de investigar la formación profesional que reciben los contadores, la norma que regula la ética y las sanciones que impone la JCC a los profesionales contables que la incumplen, se encuentra que estas sanciones son muy laxas y permiten que el contador no las tome en serio y le reste importancia al hecho de actuar de forma anti ético, pues no incurrirá en sanciones fuertes, o por lo menos no en una primera oportunidad. Por lo anterior se concluye que la JCC debe realizar una revisión a las condiciones al momento de sancionar al contador y procurar ser más estricto, con el fin que el profesional vea y sienta que si actúa de forma contraria a la ética, se verá inmerso en unas sanciones fuertes que pueden repercutir gravemente en su futuro profesional, al poder incluso, llegar a perder su matrícula profesional de por vida.In Colombia there are regulations that regulate ethics, as well as entities that are responsible for ensuring that these standards are met; are the case of the Central Board of Accountants - JCC at the national level and the IESBA at an international level. Although this regulation and these entities exist, accounting professionals do not fully comply with regulations and face sanctions that are imposed by the JCC. After investigating the professional training received by accountants, the standard that regulates the ethics and sanctions imposed by the JCC on accounting professionals who fail to comply, it is concluded that these sanctions are very lax and allow the accountant not to take them seriously and detracts from the fact of acting in an unethical way, as it will not incur strong sanctions, or at least not at a first opportunity.
