Con el presente ensayo se pretende reflexionar sobre el curso que ha tomado la Universidad frente a los diversos cambios sociales derivados de la modernidad y de la avasallante dimensión técnico- científica de la actual sociedad del progreso y del conocimiento. Se hace especial énfasis en la pérdida del horizonte educativo el cual aparto su fin máximo de formar hombres íntegros para encaminarse hacia la formación de profesionales competitivos, eficaces, capaces de cumplir con las exigencias del mercado laboral. Ante estos cambios se propone retomar el papel de la universidad como espacio de formación integral a través de la adopción de un modelo de humanista que garantice aprendizajes éticos, que permitan la construcción de valores orientados a la formación de la persona en su dimensión individual y social y que al mismo tiempo guíe su conducta y sus acciones hacia la conformación de una sociedad justa capaz de enfrentar los desafíos de una sociedad de dimensión planetaria. |

It specially, emphasizes on the educational horizon which is lost and excluded from educating competitive and efficient professionals able to face the labor market demands.
