description El anuncio de la próxima licitación del espectro de 700 MHz en Colombia para comunicaciones móviles 4G, programada para finales del 2016, ha generado una alta expectativa en la industria de Telecomunicaciones pues se espera que este espectro traiga beneficios, principalmente de cobertura, y así lograr la expansión de la conectividad y una mayor adopción de Internet móvil. En este documento se cuestiona la pertinencia y necesidad de la subasta señalando que la baja penetración de los terminales 4G, el alto costo del espectro y las condiciones económicas del país no son el panorama más adecuado para realizar inversiones de esta magnitud; por el contrario el llamado debe ser a la prudencia financiera, a buscar maneras de optimizar la estructura de costos de las redes actuales y a derribar las barreras de adopción de Internet Móvil de los colombianos cubiertos.
