description Durante estos últimos años se está dando a conocer una nueva metodología de trabajo para proyectos de construcción llamada Building Information Modeling (BIM); específicamente en los sectores de la arquitectura, ingeniería y construcción y está llamada a ser el futuro de este mercado. En la actualidad, los sistemas de gestión de proyectos aplicados al sector de la construcción si bien han tenido un considerable avance a nivel mundial, en el mercado colombiano es casi nulo, salvo algunos casos que comienzan a tener un liderazgo dado su nivel de competitividad. Sin embargo, al final y de manera general se mantiene una resistencia al cambio en la forma de trabajar tradicionalmente. Por lo anterior, este artículo tiene como fin conceptualizar, mostrar los beneficios, usos y análisis de la metodología BIM frente la metodología tradicional de elaboración de proyectos en construcción. Y finalmente, en la parte práctica, se describirá la eficiencia de esta metodología desarrollando un proyecto con BIM.
