description En este artículo se presenta una revisión de la bibliografía y entrevistas respecto al estado actual de los dos mecanismos de participación dentro del trámite de licenciamiento ambiental en proyectos de infraestructura con comunidades no étnicas, esto es, audiencias públicas ambientales y terceros intervinientes desde el año 2011 hasta octubre de 2018. Se hace una descripción del principio de democracia participativa conforme a los lineamientos de la Corte Constitucional; posteriormente, se explica cada mecanismo de participación: requisitos y características. Finalmente, se realiza la conclusión con base en la recolección de la información.
