El impacto de la AOD es algo incierto debido a los pros y contras que tiene. Cada año, miles de millones de dólares fluyen hacia África, que es el mayor receptor mundial, tanto de ayuda exterior como ayuda al desarrollo, con el propósito de reducir el hambre, erradicar la pobreza, promover el desarrollo económico, la gobernabilidad democrática y el estado de derecho sin poner en peligro la paz de estos países. Sin embargo, en este continente, la Ayuda Oficial al Desarrollo ha sido utilizada para cultivar los intereses de las élites influyentes, no para desarrollar la economía, ni promover el estado de derecho y menos la gobernanza democrática. Por lo tanto, se cree que la AOD que se le ha dado a África ha hecho gobiernos corruptos, ineficientes e ineficaces, que han entorpecido el crecimiento económico, las inversiones y han deteriorado la democracia, el respeto por el estado de derecho y las políticas estables. En este ensayo se pretende mostrar el rol de la Ayuda Oficial al Desarrollo en África Subsahariana, examinando el impacto de la AOD a través de su desarrollo histórico e identificando los factores que impiden que esta ayuda sea efectiva en el continente africano.

The impact of ODA is somewhat uncertain due to its pros and cons. Every year, billions of dollars flow to Africa, which is the world's largest recipient of both foreign aid and development assistance, for the purpose of reducing hunger, eradicating poverty, promoting economic development, democratic governance, and economic development. rule of law without endangering the peace of these countries. However, in this continent, ODA has been used to cultivate the interests of influential elites, not to develop the economy, nor to promote the rule of law, and even less the democratic governance.
