| Summary: | Higher education in Colombia began in the middle of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries; Universities such as Santo Tomas, the Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Senora del Rosario, promote the first educational programs in medicine, theology, jurisprudence, access at the time was limited because the only students who entered were from Spanish families and belonging to religious orders ; In the early twentieth century, Colombia presented several events that did not allow significant progress in higher education, at the end of the same century the idea of developing new educational policies that would expand coverage in universities and technical programs, technologists and professionals , through which several state entities such as ICETEX were created, which has fostered higher education in recent years, thus allowing many young people to access quality universities, with fair conditions, which generates great development in the sector productive in Colombia, through the educational credit instrument; In order to improve and continue supporting the Colombians in higher education, the bill of solidarity contribution in 2018 is approved, which will allow access and permanence in the course of the professional program in public and private universities, thus modernizing all models current educational funding, through the FCI (contingent financing to income), which proposes to young people to finance their studies throughout the career, and once the labor process begins, will begin their payments according to their income received. |
