| Summary: | Mining, one of the economic activities generated by more different impacts is to produce significant economic resources which are then incorporated into the budgets of the States, but when this activity is done illegally economic consequences, social and environmental are incalculable. In Colombia the exploitation of illegal mining has become one of the main problems of the last few years for the authorities, because it is interspersed with some legal holdings or its activity is carried out in places so different and distant from the wide geography of the country, which makes it even more difficult its monitoring and controlwhich is used by groups on the fringes of the law to carry out their illicit activities, who, using force and intimidation to the communities that live in this territory, who are mostly people of African descent, to move or deliver their territories or to undergo work without minimum guarantees neither wage nor social security and industrial. This document aims to capture the different consequences which the illegal exploitation of gold in the Department of Chocó, region that has one of the most prolific territories of this precious metal in Colombia and where it is located an area extremely rich in water resources, fauna, flora and woodlots, mainly highlighting the impact on the environment, this illegal practice. |
