Affected in the municipality of sesquilé by the state council on the popular action of the bogota river

Bogota River is the most important water way of Sabana Cundinamarquesa, it is born in Guacheneque wasteland in the town called Villapinzón, its basin is in 46 towns and flows into Magdalena river in Girardot town. Bogota River goes through 80% of the population of Cundinamarca, added up to the capital it is 21% of the population of the country. The high levels of population as well as the amount of industries located in Sabana de Bogota, produce a big volume of pollution to the river, so it is known as one of the most contaminated bulk flow of water on earth. The institutional incompetence when preserving the river, and the inability to supply collective rights like a healthy environment, water use, sustainable development of the basin inhabitants, motive affective citizens to bring four Popular Actions, between 1992 and 2000 in Tribunal Administrative de Cundinamarca, and in second request in Consejo de Estado. In this way Consejo de Estado ratifies the sentence uttered by Tribunal Administrative de Cundinamarca in 2004, through the ruling of March 28th 2014. The sentence delivered 87 commands which involved 76 public entities included Sesquilé town.
