Summary:The distribution policies of the national budget have been showing an increasing trend of the investment in education infrastructure. This is the reason that makes it necessary to identify the territories with the greatest number of facilities (such as schools, colleges, universities and libraries) and those lacking this type of infrastructure, in order to know where a possible government intervention is required. This work is not intended to give a judgment on the qualitative state of the national infrastructure. It focuses, in terms of infrastructure, on Colombia's quantitative status of the educational sector, by identifying the territories with more facilities, such as schools, colleges, universities and public libraries. To do this a quantitative index will be created to identify if the coverage of educational infrastructure at departmental level is enough, by taking into account not only the number of facilities, but also the population and the area of influence each one has...
