Description
Summary:The use of methodologies like Lean Construction and BIM has revolutionized the way in which construction companies carry out their projects. In previous studies, it has been proven that the implementation of these methodologies can have great impacts not only on the project?s productivity level but also on the deviation of prices and quantities. This paper presents a case study of a leading construction company in the country, and the process that was followed to implement Lean Construction and BIM, and more specifically, how this implementation affected its value chain. This paper will explain the method of diagnosis of the process map of the company, through Value Stream Mapping (VSM), in addition to the interviews carried out for the diagnosis of the organizational structure. With this information, a methodology was developed to analyze the improvements in the processes of the company and how they are aligned with the principles of Lean Construction and advantages of BIM. Finally, a strategy for tracking and appropriating the improved processes is defined, where an impact is presented in all areas of the company. The results presented show a significant increase in the productivity of the company, together with a more optimized organizational structure.
