The research question addresses neurological complications associated with the use of ECMO in patients with severe cardiopulmonary failure. Through a systematic review of 52 articles, aspects such as veno-venous (VV) and veno-arterial (VA) ECMO techniques, risk factors, and the most common comorbidities, including hypertension and diabetes, were evaluated. The results reveal that the most frequent neurological complications include strokes, intracranial hemorrhages, and seizures, which vary in incidence depending on the type of ECMO and the patient's underlying conditions. With high mortality rates, ranging from 36.98% to 54.8%, the findings underscore the need for strategies to mitigate these risks in critically ill patients. This study contributes to the understanding of factors that aggravate neurological complications, facilitating best practices in the management of patients on ECMO.application/pdfAttribution-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/4.0/Acceso abiertohttps://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2Oxigenación por membrana extracorpórea (ECMO)Complicaciones neurológicasVeno-arterialVeno-venosoSoporte hemodinámicoMortalidadCardiopulmonarPostoperatorioIntervenciónCirculaciónExtracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)Neurological complicationsVeno-arterialVeno-venousHemodynamic supportMortalityCardiopulmonaryPostoperativeInterventionCirculationW100Frecuencia de complicaciones neurológicas en pacientes con ECMO para soporte cardiopulmonar, con o sin cirugíaFrequency of neurological complications in patients with ECMO for cardiopulmonary support, with or without surgeryMedicinaUniversidad El BosqueFacultad de MedicinaTesis/Trabajo de grado - Monografía - Pregradohttps://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_7a1fhttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_7a1finfo:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesishttps://purl.org/coar/version/c_ab4af688f83e57aa1.
