Hospital Universitario San Rafael de TunjaInstituto de Diabetes y Endocrinología, BogotáEspecialista en Medicina FamiliarEspecializaciónObjective: To identify the key barriers and facilitators for the adoption and sustainability of non-pharmacological strategies for managing obesity in adults at two centers in Colombia. Method: This qualitative study used a phenomenological approach to understand the experiences of patients and healthcare professionals through semi-structured interviews. In-person interviews were conducted with informed consent, using Google Forms for data collection. Each interview lasted between 10 and 15 minutes. Participants included adults aged 18 to 59 with obesity (defined according to the WHO), as well as treating professionals in endocrinology, sports medicine, psychology, nutrition, social work, nursing assistance, physical education, sports and recreation, and psychiatry. Individuals with neurological conditions, cognitive impairment, recent postoperative bariatric surgery, or undergoing renal replacement therapy were excluded. Results: Perceptions linking obesity with quality of life, emotions, and comorbidities were identified. Main barriers included nutritional challenges, low physical activity, lack of social support, sleep disorders, and stigma. Support networks, realistic expectations, and access to healthcare services emerged as facilitators. Conclusions: Motivation and social support are essential for adopting healthy habits. However, these same networks can also act as barriers, along with unrealistic expectations, stigma, and emotional impact. These findings underscore the importance of a collaborative approach among patients, their communities, and healthcare professionals.application/pdfAttribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/Acceso abiertohttps://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2ObesidadPercepciónPromoción de la SaludPersonal de SaludPacientesObesityPerceptionHealth PromotionHealth PersonnelPatientsWB 110Barreras y facilitadores del manejo no farmacológico de la obesidad: Percepción de pacientes y profesionales de la salud en dos centros médicos de ColombiaBarriers and facilitators of non-pharmacological management of obesity: Perceptions of patients and healthcare professionals in two medical centers in ColombiaEspecialización en Medicina FamiliarUniversidad El BosqueFacultad de MedicinaTesis/Trabajo de grado - Monografía - Especializaciónhttps://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_7a1fhttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_7a1finfo:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesishttps://purl.org/coar/version/c_ab4af688f83e57aaAlexander, Lydia, Sandra M.
