description La tesina titulada “Conocimiento del personal de enfermería sobre factores asociados a flebitis en hospitalización en una institución de alta complejidad” fue desarrollada como parte de la Especialización en Seguridad del Paciente en la Universidad El Bosque. Su objetivo principal es evaluar el nivel de conocimiento del personal de enfermería sobre los factores de riesgo, prevención y manejo de la flebitis asociada a la inserción de catéteres venosos periféricos en pacientes hospitalizados. El estudio se plantea como observacional, transversal y se realizará mediante la aplicación de un cuestionario estructurado y validado, que permitirá clasificar el conocimiento del personal en niveles bajo, medio o alto. El cuestionario será validado semánticamente, con juicio de expertos y pruebas piloto para garantizar su confiabilidad. Se tomará una muestra por conveniencia entre el personal de enfermería de una institución de alta complejidad. En el documento se analizan los tipos de flebitis (mecánica, química e infecciosa), sus factores de riesgo, y las prácticas recomendadas para su prevención. También se hace énfasis en la importancia de la formación continua del personal y la implementación de protocolos estandarizados para reducir la incidencia de este evento adverso. Además, se contemplan aspectos éticos, administrativos y financieros del proyecto. Se proyectan productos como un artículo científico, material de capacitación, y presentaciones en congresos, todo con el fin de mejorar la calidad del cuidado, optimizar la seguridad del paciente y fomentar la investigación en el área de la enfermería.

The main objective is to evaluate the level of knowledge among nursing staff regarding the risk factors, prevention, and management of phlebitis linked to the use of peripheral venous catheters in hospitalized patients. The study will follow a cross-sectional observational design and utilize a structured, validated questionnaire to assess the knowledge level of participants—categorizing it as low, medium, or high. The questionnaire will undergo semantic validation, expert review, and pilot testing to ensure its reliability. A convenience sample will be drawn from the nursing staff in a high-complexity healthcare institution. The thesis provides an in-depth analysis of the types of phlebitis (mechanical, chemical, and infectious), their associated risk factors, and best prevention practices. Emphasis is placed on continuous education for nurses and the implementation of standardized protocols to reduce the incidence of this common but underreported adverse event. The document also addresses the ethical, administrative, and financial aspects of the project.
