La evidencia creciente sugiere que la AR puede ser un factor de riesgo para el desarrollo de depresión, y los pacientes que presentan ambas condiciones tienden a tener resultados clínicos menos favorables. No obstante, en Colombia, no se dispone de estimaciones precisas sobre la prevalencia de depresión en individuos con AR, y los estudios existentes enfrentan diversas limitaciones metodológicas. Este estudio se propone investigar la magnitud del problema de la depresión en pacientes con AR mediante la estimación de su prevalencia en una cohorte colombiana. Además, analizará cómo los síntomas depresivos influyen en la actividad de la enfermedad, al tiempo que identificará los factores que afectan la relación entre ambas enfermedades a lo largo del tiempo.
