Por otro lado, con el éxito y el impacto que se ha evidenciado en el sector industrial, ha sido necesario implementarlo en otros sectores, como es el caso del sector servicios, que a lo largo de los años se han vinculado y han incorporado estas herramientas, demostrando que el pensamiento Lean junto con sus herramientas pueden adaptarse de acuerdo a la necesidad u objetivo que se quiera mejorar dentro de la organización. Es por ello que esta investigación presenta un análisis de las diferentes fuentes de información que permite identificar las herramientas que se aplican con mayor frecuencia en el sector salud, así como su adaptación dependiendo de los procesos misionales, además de los beneficios y barreras que se presentan al implementarlas y por último su impacto en el sector. De esta manera se obtiene un documento en el que se expone la información recopilada, así como un análisis de los cambios efectuados entre el Lean Manufacturing y el Lean Healthcare, lo cual permite tener una visión ampliada de la aplicación del Lean en la salud.
