Los dos primeros nacieron y actuaron en el siglo XIX y fueron los médicos más importantes de su tiempo en Colombia. Los otros fueron muy distinguidos médicos del siglo XX que se destacaron no solo en su profesión, la Medicina en sus distintas áreas, sino en todo el ámbito nacional, en la academia, en la política, en la cultura. Dos de los diez médicos estudiados viven aún, trabajan activamente, son muy destacados representantes de la investigación científica y del trabajo académico nacional e internacional. Palabras Clave: Historia de la Medicina colombiana, Historia de la Medicina santandereana, Biografías de diez médicos colombianos. ABSTRACT The Author presents biographical reviews of ten eminent Colombian born in the department of Santander. Both first (Doctors Vargas- Reyes and Plata - Azuero) they were born and they acted in the XIX century and they were the most important doctors in their time in Colombia. The eight remaining were very distinguished doctors of the XX century that not stood out were alone their profession, the Medicine in their different areas, but in the whole national environment, in the academy, in the politics, in the culture.
