Se exploran las principales áreas el diseño estructural donde la IA aporta valor e importancia, tales como la automatización de diseños mediante Machine Learning, la integración de Building Information Modeling (BIM), la implementación de asistentes virtuales y las diferentes metodologías de IA existentes. Estas tecnologías emergentes están revolucionando la forma en que los profesionales mejoran la eficiencia y funcionalidad de las estructuras y los proyectos. Además, se ilustran los avances y desafíos presentes en la adopción de la IA en este campo, debido a la resistencia al cambio, al desconocimiento de las nuevas tecnologías y la baja aceptabilidad por parte de los profesionales que aún desconocen el potencial de las IA’s. Con esta revisión, se espera proporcionar un panorama integral fundamentado en investigaciones, que permita mostrar el potencial de la IA en la ingeniería estructural, así como enseñar una nueva metodología de abordaje del diseño y ejecución de proyectos civiles.

It explores the main areas of structural design where AI adds value and significance, such as design automation through Machine Learning, the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM), the implementation of virtual assistants, and the various existing AI methodologies. These emerging technologies are revolutionizing how professionals enhance the efficiency and functionality of structures and projects. Additionally, the advances and challenges present in the adoption of AI in this field are illustrated, due to resistance to change, lack of knowledge about new technologies, and low acceptance by professionals who are still unaware of AI's potential.
