description RESUMEN: Las dinámicas sociales contemporáneas plantean retos importantes en materia de investigación e innovación que tocan el centro del accionar de las universidades, con especial énfasis en las de carácter público. Uno de esos desafíos radica en la definición de políticas sobre producción, gestión, apropiación y transferencia del conocimiento que en estas instituciones se produce. Y, de la mano con ello, surge la necesidad de cuestionarse temas de propiedad intelectual, especialmente en los espacios de intersección entre ésta y el accionar universitario. En este artículo se exploran estos conceptos, tratando de identificar los principales retos, desafíos y oportunidades universitarias actuales en materia de propiedad intelectual.
