El conocimiento requerido para la elaboración del currículo se obtiene de cuatro fuentes: la primera comprende la fundamentación filosófica, pedagógica, epistemológica y psicológica. La segunda, corresponde a las áreas del conocimiento universal, las cuales soportan la ingeniería. El conocimiento extraacadémico constituye la tercera fuente. La cuarta, contiene el conocimiento académico interno y externo. Los currículos son orientados hacia la formación integral de los ingenieros, mediante la definición de los propósitos de formación y los contenidos temáticos del programa en cuatro dimensiones de formación: ser, saber, hacer y comportarse. Knowledge required for curricula elaboration comes from four sources: the first one, encloses the philosophical, pedagogical, epistemological, and psychological foundation; the second one, the universal knowledge areas, which support the engineering; extra-academic knowledge constitute the third source, and finally internal and external knowledge. Curricula aim to the integral training of engineers, by the definition of program’s training purposes and thematic contents, in four training dimensions: to be, to know, to do, and to behave.
