The following paper aims to present, from a hermeneutical perspective, three profiles of their lives, which have in common a search for an ethical-aesthetic way of life in which is significant to act according to what is thought. Bearing this in mind, it is pretended to outline why such a philosophical perspective might guide nowadays the reflection about practices related to the care and knowledge of the self.RESUMO: Os filósofos cínicos se caracterizaram por seguir suas paixões, por falar francamente e rever os artifícios normativos de uma comunidade.
