El tema del libro es muy particular; por un lado, habla de casos médicos relativos a la mente y sus extrañas formas de operar, y, por otro, trabaja con mucha atención el manejo de plantas curativas y otras formas de sanación alternativas a la medicina tradicional, y resalta el conocimiento que sobre todo esto aún se conserva. La autora compone de manera creativa este libro en el que diversas formas estéticas se cruzan y ofrecen al lector todo un mundo por explorar. Su mirada pone en diálogo la ciencia y el mito, la narrativa y la poesía, para enunciar un territorio negado por la razón occidental, que desde su voz abre nuevas posibilidades de sentido, además de permitirnos ver el trabajo de una mujer que desde la sensibilidad y la investigación traza otras coordenadas para pensar el lenguaje, las palabras y lo que estas tienen para decir sobre la mente y lo que llamamos realidad (Camila Charry)
