Ambos lugares son puntos en los que se detienen los itinerarios de africanos que buscan mejores horizontes fuera del continente. En las historias de estos africanos, el viaje y el engaño aparecen entrelazados. Este artículo describe la manera en que estos dos elementos moldean las experiencias de la realidad de mis interlocutores. Igualmente, se pregunta por la relación que el viaje y el engaño tienen con la incertidumbre, los modelos emergentes de éxito social y el sentido arraigado de la aventura. |

It derives from a research project conducted in Dakar, Senegal between 2009 and 2012. It also builds on particular aspects of another project conducted in Quito, Ecuador, between 2014 and 2015. Both places are stops in which the itineraries of Africans looking for better horizons out of the African continent arrive. In the stories of these Africans tricks and travels are interconnected. This article describes the ways in which these two elements shape realities of my interlocutors. It also inquires about the relation that tricks and travels have with uncertainty, emergent models of social success and a rooted sense of adventure.RESUMO: Cet article examine le voyage et la tromperie comme des options pour atteindre les aspirations qui ont été décrites dans les sociétés en Afrique occidentale et centrale depuis le début du xxi siècle. Il est basé en grande partie sur un projet de recherche à Dakar, au Sénégal, entre 2009 et 2012. Cet article reprend aussi des aspects spécifiques d’un autre projet à Quito, Équateur, entre 2014 et 2015. Les deux endroits sont des points où les itinéraires des Africains cherchant de meilleures opportunités en dehors du continent sont arrêtés. Dans les histoires de ces africaines le voyage et la tromperie sont étroitement liés. Cet article décrit comment ces deux éléments façonnent les expériences de la réalité de mes interlocuteurs.
