El estudio de su producción escrita nos permitirá comprender los elementos que motivaron la censura de las manifestaciones modernas en el arte, especialmente del expresionismo, para llegar a explicar que los defectos que el autor encontraba en el complejo panorama artístico colombiano, devenían de influencias estéticas europeas entre las que encontramos lo clásico, el romanticismo y el positivismo, así como de influencias sociales y culturales de la época que marcaron el rechazo de los lenguajes artísticos modernos en la primera mitad del siglo XX.

The themes and theories exposed in his critical production of pictorial art cataloged him as the main censor of Colombian modern art. His written production study will allow us to understand the elements that motivated him to censure modern art manifestations, especially expressionism, to explain that the flaws of the complex Colombian artistic landscape came from European esthetic influences.
