RESUMEN: Esta investigación aborda el proceso de significación de la práctica del graffiti en relación con el espacio urbano, desde la perspectiva de jóvenes de Medellín. Para ello, se realizó un estudio de corte cualitativo, a través del cual se entrevistó de manera abierta a seis grafiteros participantes. El objetivo fue analizar el significado que los jóvenes atribuyen a la intervención del espacio público mediante el graffiti, así como comprender sus motivaciones, percepciones y formas de apropiación del entorno. Los hallazgos revelan que el graffiti se configura como una herramienta de empoderamiento y resistencia, permitiendo a los jóvenes expresar su inconformidad y desafiar simbólicamente las estructuras de poder que los marginan. Al plasmar sus marcas en los muros, los grafiteros reivindican su presencia y cuestionan la legitimidad de las narrativas hegemónicas que buscan invisibilizarlos. El graffiti se convierte así en un medio de comunicación alternativo a través del cual los jóvenes articulan y visibilizan sus propias experiencias, perspectivas y formas de entender el mundo, más allá de los canales institucionales y los discursos oficiales. Además, el estudio muestra cómo el graffiti trasciende la mera expresión artística, convirtiéndose en un detonante del desarrollo profesional y la construcción identitaria de los participantes. La práctica del graffiti les ha brindado visibilidad, reconocimiento y un sentido de independencia que han sido determinantes en sus trayectorias. |

For this purpose, a qualitative study was conducted, through which six participating graffiti writers were interviewed in an open manner. The objective was to analyze the meaning attributed by young people to the intervention of public space through graffiti, as well as to understand their motivations, perceptions, and forms of appropriation of the environment. The findings reveal that graffiti is configured as a tool of empowerment and resistance, allowing young people to express their discontent and symbolically challenge the power structures that marginalize them. By marking their tags on the walls, the graffiti writers claim their presence and question the legitimacy of hegemonic narratives that seek to make them invisible. Graffiti thus becomes an alternative means of communication through which young people articulate and make visible their own experiences, perspectives, and ways of understanding the world, beyond institutional channels and official discourses. Furthermore, the study shows how graffiti transcends mere artistic expression, becoming a trigger for the professional development and identity construction of the participants.
