The basins of the two main tributaries of the reservoir are highly impacted by human activity. We report the presence of a Dolichospermum lemmermannii, which up to now has only been registered as a temperate and high latitude species. Also the general ecology of the species is established, such as, generation and renewal times, spatial and temporal patterns, and interaction with more important environmental variables. |

Entre septiembre de 2011 y octubre de 2012, se realizaron 13 muestreos en 8 estaciones del embalse Riogrande II (Colombia). Está situado en la zona tropical de alta montaña (75°32’30’’ y 75°26’10’’ W y 6°33’50’’N y 6º28’07’’ N), el cual resulta en la fuente de abastecimiento de agua para la planta de tratamiento de agua potable y para el funcionamiento de una pequeña planta hidroeléctrica. Las cuencas de los dos principales afluentes del embalse están altamente impactadas por la actividad humana. Damos a conocer la presencia de Dolichospermum lemmermannii, que hasta ahora sólo se ha registrado para zonas templadas y altas latitudes.
