RESUMEN: El artículo analiza las concepciones sobre la infancia así como las prácticas de examen en los tratados pedagógicos de Quintiliano, Clemente de Alejandría, Vives, Contenió, Pestalozzi y Dewey. Se plantean tres tesis centrales. 1) Que fue primordialmente en el campo de la pedagogía en el que la infancia se constituyó como concepto y objeto de conocimiento; 2) que tanto la concepción sobre la especificidad de la infancia como las prácticas para el desarrollo de conocimiento sobre los alumnos fueron constitutivas de la práctica pedagógica, y precedieron el surgimiento de la escuela moderna y la psicología científica; 3) que el trayecto histórico del concepto de infancia es uno de recurrencias, discontinuidades y "retrocesos", que no uno de "progreso" continuo y gradual. |
