ABSTRACT: This article presents the trends in the critique of development from its implementation as a social, economic, political and cultural paradigm, starting in the fourth decade of the twentieth century. These are approached in two ways: the first one corresponds to a search for completing development; it focuses on its difficulties in the prioritization of economic growth, poverty eradication, the impacts on the environmental equilibrium, the aims or the places where it materializes and the importance of the territory where it is applied. The second one focuses on the de-construction of the discourse and practice as a system of representation and action by which subjects and societies in the world perceive themselves, as developed and underdeveloped. This approach shows how science, technology, poverty, can be replaced by other ways of life. |

This approach shows how science, technology, poverty, can be replaced by other ways of life.Este artículo presenta las tendencias en la crítica al desarrollo como modelo de sociedad en lo económico, social, político y cultural, a partir de la década del cuarenta en el siglo XX. Estas críticas se encuentran organizadas en dos vertientes: la primera corresponde a la crítica convencional al desarrollo, que muestra sus dificultades en la prioridad del crecimiento económico, la superación de la pobreza, los impactos en el equilibrio ambiental, las centralidades o lugares desde donde se concreta y la importancia del territorio donde éste se aplica. La segunda vertiente es una crítica de-constructivista al discurso del desarrollo y a sus prácticas como sistema de representación y acción mediante el cual se configuran sujetos y sociedades en el mundo, como desarrollados y subdesarrollados, muestra como la ciencia, la tecnología, la pobreza, la paz y el desarrollo mismo, pueden ser sustituidos por otros modos de vida.
