Nowadays, some molecular technics such as clonation and genetic expression systems have permit the development of new alternatives for immunization against IBR. This article reviews the most relevant aspects of specific and nonspecific response against BHB-1, the mechanisms of immunosuppression and the expected goals in the development of a new vaccines.

This article reviews the most relevant aspects of specific and nonspecific response against BHB-1, the mechanisms of immunosuppression and the expected goals in the development of a new vaccines.RESUMEN: Como es bien sabido el virus de la RIB es un agente inmunosupresor seriamente implicado en la presentación del síndrome conocido como "fiebre de embarque" debido a su capacidad para reducir las funciones antibacterianas de los macrófago y polimorfonucleares y por su poder lítico sobre los linfocitos T activados. Desde la década de los 60 han existido las vacunas contra la RIB sin embargo aún no se ha logrado la producción de una vacuna que sea realmente efectiva y segura. En la actualidad las técnicas moleculares como la clonación y los sistemas de expresión génica han permitido el desarrollo de nuevas alternativas para la inmunización contra la RIB.
