RESUMEN: Durante mucho tiempo, las personas han pertenecido a diferentes agrupaciones, encontrando en ellas protección, acogimiento y un lugar en la sociedad. A partir de esta condición humana, esta investigación busca describir, cómo una de esas agrupaciones, en este caso jóvenes ex-pertenecientes a pandillas, han construido significados de familia a partir de esas experiencias como pandilleros. Para esta investigación se tuvo en cuenta las respuestas de cuatro ex-pandilleros recluidos en el establecimiento penitenciario de mediana seguridad y carcelario Santa Inés de la región de Urabá; se utilizó un enfoque cualitativo, y la entrevista semi-estructurada a través de un grupo focal como herramienta para la captación de información. Se identificaron cuatro categorías de las narrativas de los jóvenes: significados de pandillas, me tiré a la calle, hasta el límite y significados de familia. Se concluye que los significados de familia para estos jóvenes giran en relación al apoyo incondicional, manifestación de cariño y la posibilidad de respaldo ante cualquier situación de peligro; que evidencia la construcción de unos significados que permiten reconocer la existencia de un sentido de unidad referente a la familia, pero extendiéndose esta creencia unificadora hasta el grupo de la pandilla. |

From this human condition, this research seeks to describe how one of these groups, in this case young ex-members of gangs, family meanings have built from these experiences as gang members. For this research took into account the answers to several interviews with four former gang members held in medium security penitentiary and prison St. Agnes in the region of Urabá, using a qualitative approach to address research, and interview semi structured through a focus group as a tool to gather information. Meanings gang, "I threw myself into the street", "to the limit" and meanings of family: four categories of the narratives of young people were identified.
