RESUMEN: Las familias que han llegado a Medellín en situación de desplazamiento forzado por la violencia, constituyen un colectivo humano con características y necesidades particulares. Objetivo: Describir las condiciones de vida de la población en situación de desplazamiento forzado del asentamiento El Palomar, del barrio Bello Oriente, de Medellín, Colombia, en los meses comprendidos entre mayo de 2004 y diciembre de 2005 y las transformaciones de la familia antes y a partir del desplazamiento. Metodología: El presente estudio fue realizado desde un enfoque cualitativo, desde la perspectiva de la etnografía focalizada. Resultados: Se destacan los procesos de transformación que sufre la familia en relación con su dinámica y estructura, explicitando los cambios en cuanto a roles, funciones, contextos, posibilidades y limitaciones que se dan a partir del desplazamiento forzado. Conclusiones: La situación de desplazamiento implica la interacción de estas familias con el mundo urbano, que siendo ajeno a sus costumbres y formas de comprender el mundo, se impone y condiciona las posibilidades de desarrollo y realización de las familias y sus integrantes y aumenta la situación de vulnerabilidad, exclusión social y económica, concretándose en la violación del derecho a la familia. |

Objective: to describe life conditions of the population in forced situation displacement settled in “El palomar”, in the district “Bello Oriente” of Medellín between May of 2004-December of 2005, and the changes in the family before and after the displacement. Methodology: The present study was made from a qualitative approach, under the view of focused ethnography. Results: they stand out the process of transformation in the family, according to their dynamic and structures, specifying the changes based on rolls, functions, contexts, possibilities and limitations which occur from the forced displacement itself.
