El significado del cambio en las vidas de los hijos e hijas de migrantes Internacionales

ABSTRACT: This article is the resultofresearchcarried out between 2009 and 2010 in seven cities in Colombia; Changes and conflicts of households face the international migration, which seeks to understand-from a gender perspective- the changes in the composition, the roles and the relationships of families with children under 24 years when their parents (mother or father) have migrated abroad. The evidence gathered in interviews with families living in a transnational situation, allowed to us an approach to the emotional drama triggered from migration; these testimonies account for the resources developed by the children before the need for new strategies for fulfilling the family functions, revealing theformation of social networksfrommigration.This paper -in particular- brings us closer to meaning of change that the narrators give to their lives from their parents’ immigration, which borders on two extremes: those who have performed the migration as a cause of multiple feelings of abandonment and loneliness, presenting difficulties in behavior, which has been called extreme situations; and to whom that meant an opportunity to gain greater autonomy over their lives and development."
