A pre and post-therapy clinical evaluation was carried out and it was triangulated with the participants' perception about the therapeutic changes. The participants were children of school age, their parents and the psychotherapists in charge. In the results, the emotional dimension stood out as an area of common affectation and positive change in the cases studied, although there was variation in the problematized psychological areas case by case, a decrease in the chronicity of reported difficulties was observed and positive change in the patient's perception about the interference of their problems in daily life. The support and willingness of the parents were an influential factor in the effectiveness of the psychotherapy. |

The support and willingness of the parents were an influential factor in the effectiveness of the psychotherapy.RESUMEN: La investigación tuvo como objetivo evaluar el cambio en las dificultades psicológicas de niños institucionalizados que recibieron tratamiento psicoterapéutico durante cuatro meses. Fue un estudio de caso múltiple con un análisis intra e intercaso, en el que se usaron los datos de cuatro terapias. Se realizó una evaluación clínica pre y pos-terapia que se trianguló con la percepción de los participantes sobre los cambios terapéuticos. Los participantes fueron niños de edad escolar, sus padres y los psicoterapeutas a cargo. En los resultados, la dimensión emocional resaltó como área de común afectación y cambio positivo en los casos estudiados; si bien hubo variación de las áreas psicológicas problematizadas en cada caso, se observó disminución en la cronicidad de las dificultades reportadas y cambio positivo en la percepción del paciente sobre la interferencia de su problemática en la vida cotidiana.
