description RESUMEN: Este artículo ofrece el acercamiento a algunas de las ideas estéticas más representativas del autor colombiano Max Grillo. Se analiza la concepción positivista a partir de la cual explica el surgimiento de las nuevas corrientes artísticas de finales de siglo XIX y comienzos del XX. Se exponen los aspectos sociológicos por los cuales explica la crisis del artista moderno, a la vez que su análisis de la literatura moderna y la poesía modernista en relación con la renovación del lenguaje. Se expone la problemática dependencia que Grillo establece entre la esfera de lo divino y la actividad creadora. Finalmente, es presentada su consideración respecto a la legitimidad de las expresiones artísticas de corte nacionalista.

First, the positivist conception from which he explains the rise of the new artistic movements from the endings of XIX century and beginnings of XX century will be analyzed. Then, the sociologic aspects for which he explains the crisis of the modern artists will be presented, as well as his analysis of the modern literature and the modernist poetry in relation to language renewal. After that, the problematic dependence that Grillo establishes between the divine issues and the creative activity will be reviewed.
