RESUMEN: Objetivo. Generar desde la disciplina un discurso propio con fundamento epistémico que de respuesta a las problemáticas que se presentan desde la Práctica Odontológica al reflexionar en el contexto social lo oral, la oralidad, lo bucal y la salud bucal. Métodos. Estudio cualitativo exploratorio donde se analizan diferentes propuestas que se han venido trabajando desde diferentes espacios, particularmente desde Colombia a través de tres odontólogos: Carlos Payares G., Rafael Malagón, Nelson Cortes del grupo UNUN VERTERE de la Universidad de Antioquia; además se tuvo en cuenta la discusión latinoamericana de Carlos Bottazzo, de Pablo Capel de Narvai entre otros autores, sobre la utilización de conceptos como lo oral y lo bucal. Resultados. Se logran definir claramente los términos propuestos: oral, oralidad, bucal y bucalidad, para contribuir al debate y proponer su uso con sentido en la Práctica Odontológica. Conclusiones. Se deconstruyen y construyen socialmente nuevos conceptos y saberes fundantes en Salud Bucal, utilizando su origen etimológico y sus usos sociales, retomando finalmente una propuesta filológica de dejar para Odontología lo bucal y lo oral para otras disciplinas. |

Methods. Qualitative study exploring the approaches from three Colombian dentists: Carlos Payares G., Rafael Malagón, Nelson Cortes from UNUN VERTERE group of the University of Antioquia. Besides considering the Latin-American arguments provided by Pablo Capel de Narvai and others about the use of terms like “oral” or “bucal”. Results. The proposed terms: “oral”, “orality”, “bucal” and “bucality”, are clearly defined, adding arguments to debate and to structure a proper usage within the Dental practice. Conclusions.
