description ABSTRACT: Objective: To determine differences in the perception of familial criticism among outpatients with diabetes mellitus, bipolar disorder and healthy individuals. Methods: A sample of 114 outpatients with a diagnosis of diabetes mellitus, 122 with bipolar disorder and 116 healthy individuals was taken. Familial criticism was measured with the Family Emotional Involvement and Criticism Scale (FEICS). The scores were compared by means of the Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: Patients with a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder have the highest scores in perceived criticism (Median= 17.5) and healthy individuals have the lowest scores (Median=12). Bipolar disorder patients have high scores in censorship and intrusion domains (p<0.0001). Conclusion: Bipolar disorder patients have the highest familial criticism compared to diabetes patients and healthy individuals. The high criticism can be explained by mental disorder characteristics and its social and familial implications.

Métodos: Se tomó una muestra de 114 sujetos con diabetes, 122 con trastorno bipolar y 116 sanos. La crítica familiar fue medida con la subescala de crítica de la Escala de Envolvimiento Emocional y Crítica (FEICS) y se compararon los puntajes entre los tres grupos empleando la prueba Kruskal-Wallis. Resultados: Los pacientes con trastorno bipolar son los que se perciben más criticados en su familia (mediana 17,5) y los pacientes sanos se perciben menos criticados (mediana 12). Los pacientes con trastorno bipolar se perciben más censurados y con mayor intrusión (p<0,0001). Conclusión: La percepción de la crítica familiar es mayor en pacientes con trastorno bipolar comparado con los pacientes diabéticos y participantes sanos. Esto podría ser explicado por las características de los trastornos mentales y sus implicaciones sociales y familiares.application/pdfspaAsociación Colombiana de PsiquiatríaColombiahttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/2.5/co/https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Atribución-NoComercial-SinDerivadas 2.5 Colombiainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttp://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2Diabetes mellitus tipo 2Familia y enfermdadPercepciónTrastorno bipolarSalud familiarPercepción de la crítica familiar en pacientes ambulatorios con diabetes mellitus, trastorno bipolar I y sujetos sanosPerceived familial criticism in outpatients with diabetes mellitus, bipolar disorder and healthy individuals.Artículo de investigaciónhttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_2df8fbb1https://purl.org/redcol/resource_type/ARThttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionRev Colomb Psiquiatr223221336Revista Colombiana de PsiquiatríaPublicationORIGINALAgudeloMaria_2007_PercepcionCrticaFamiliar.pdfAgudeloMaria_2007_PercepcionCrticaFamiliar.pdfArtículo de Revistaapplication/pdf206071https://bibliotecadigital.udea.edu.co/bitstreams/ef4e26c9-97f4-4ef6-9bb5-9be8cb37e406/downloadf7925025f0f9c1d84c7371344a5548b3MD51trueAnonymousREADCC-LICENSElicense_urllicense_urltext/plain;
