Specifically, I question the way in which the inhabitants of Guatapé have linked their identity with the otherness of tourists. My objective is to analyze the role played by the other (stranger, tourist, foreigner) in the configuration of what the inhabitants of Guatapé name as identity, after tourism was established as the main economic activity of the municipality (especially since the nineties).
