RESUMEN: Comprender la psicología como práctica social implica revisar desarrollos teóricos que se han dado desde la Psicología Social Comunitaria (PSC) y los aportes de diversas posturas teóricas de la psicología, sociología y trabajo social. Hablar de la psicología como práctica social es aceptar que como disciplina debe trascender la esfera de lo privado para dar sentido y aportar a la construcción de lo público. Para ello, se asume que la comunidad no se restringe a un espacio geográfico de convivencia y que se entiende como escenario e instrumento potenciador del desarrollo humano y social; además que la práctica social se da en tanto en toda acción prime la transformación social desde una posición empírica y del acercamiento teórico-práctico a las realidades sociales de grupos y comunidades. La psc podrá entenderse como práctica social cuando reconozca dentro de sus acciones a los otros como actores sociales y le apueste a la transformación social. |

La psc podrá entenderse como práctica social cuando reconozca dentro de sus acciones a los otros como actores sociales y le apueste a la transformación social.ABSTARCT: To understand psychology as a social practice, we need to review the theoretical developments that have come from Community Psychology (psc) and the contributions from multiple theoretical postures in psychology, sociology, and social work. To view psychology as a social practice, we must accept that, as a discipline, it must transcend from the private sphere to give sense and contribute to the construction of the public sphere. For this, we assume that the community is not limited to a geographical gathering space and conceive it as the scenario and an enhancing tool for human and social development. We must also understand that social practices exist only if social trans-formation, from an empirical point of view, which seeks to bring together, theoretically and practically, the social realities of different groups and communities, is the priority of every action.
